Mark Matthes serves as Chief People Officer at Cedarstone, where he brings thoughtful leadership, clarity, and a commitment to building healthy, high-performing organizations. His experience spans HR, finance, operations, consulting, higher ed, and nonprofit leadership. Mark has built his career around helping organizations grow in ways that strengthen both their mission and the people behind it.
At Cedarstone, he has led Shared Services across HR and Finance, and supported partner organizations through executive consulting and fractional COO roles. Before joining Cedarstone, Mark served as COO of Unseen, an anti-human trafficking nonprofit working with partners in more than 30 countries, where he built systems, teams, and a financial structure that enabled sustainable growth.
Today, he works across Cedarstone’s teams to design clear structures, develop career pathways, and build people systems that turn values into everyday practice. He holds an MBA in Marketing and an MA in New Testament. Outside of work, Mark enjoys l refining his pour-over coffee technique—where small tweaks can transform the cup.
